All students in year 10 are encouraged to make an application to become a Head Student.  The process starts with them writing a letter to the Principal outlining their reasons why they would be a good prefect and therefore a good ambassador for the school.  After receiving their letter, the Principal and the Head of Pastoral Care, invite all of the students for an interview.  From this, we then appoint head students.

Head Students 2025/2026

Head Students then get involved with something for which they have a passion and we will always try to accommodate them, so their responsibilities may change annually.   These opportunities include being part of the academy council, being on the prom committee, being part of an interview panel or speaking to prospective students and parents about their experience at the Axholme Academy.  Head Students are also asked to deliver assemblies whereby they choose a relevant theme and deliver it academy wide.

We ideally look for students who have the following qualities:

• a good behaviour record

• a good attendance record

• smart appearance, following the academy uniform policy

• confident

• honest

• trustworthy 

• approachable

• initiative
