Principal Retirement and Recruitment of a Successor
I am writing to inform you that Mr Sellars has made the decision to retire from his Principal post at the end of this academic year. Mr Sellars has been the Principal at The Axholme Academy for 16 years. His career in education spans almost 37 years, where 31 of these have been in North Lincolnshire schools.
Mr Sellars has led the school through many changes and developments including gaining specialist school status and conversion to an Academy, both of which attracted considerable additional funding used to support our students' learning. In recent years, student numbers have grown by 25% as result of the Academy's success and popularity. Mr Sellars has worked hard with local Politicians and Governors over many years to bring much needed sports and leisure facilities to Crowle, resulting in the excellent Axholme North Leisure Centre facility that opened in Dec 2018. We wish Joe well for his retirement and his new ventures.
The Governing Board are actively working with the Local Authority to recruit a new Principal and build on the strong foundation Mr Sellars has established. We look forward to sharing the outcome of this important appointment and ensuring a smooth transition for all our staff and students.
