Year 7 Murton Park Visit 2013

Back to the Future

History came alive for Year 7 when they travelled back to the Viking Age at Murton Park.  49 students from The Axholme Academy spent the day living in 9th century York.  Splitting into family groups the students each had a family home to look after in the reconstructed Dark Ages village.  They spent the day grinding corn, making pots, farming and learning how to be Viking Warriors - a skill that was useful when an Anglo-Saxon scout turned up and had to be driven off.  William Hobson said 'I really enjoyed living like a real Viking'.  Kennedy Moss added 'Making the oil lamp was the best bit of the day.'
