Summer School 2013
The summer school ran for two weeks over the summer holidays and was designed to allow some of our new Year 7 students an opportunity to get a head start on their secondary education. The two weeks were filled with a wide range of visits and numeracy and literacy workshops across a range of subject areas such as maths, English, geography, art, drama, history, RE, media, PE and technology. We also had a few special treats throughout!
Activities included:
- Team building games
- Creating a visual diary
- Photography in the schools studio
- Photo manipulation using Photoshop
- Basic animation techniques and media terms
- Maths brain teasers, numeracy games and treasure hunt
- Map building and investigating the local area
- Making pizzas and muffins (and eating them!)
- Sculpture making using air dry clay
- Ratio activities looking at the human form in art
- Drama workshops
- Sports activities
- Creative writing
Trips included:
- Yorkshire Sculpture Park (learning art specific terminology)
- Pleasure Island - fun fun fun!!!
- Lincoln Castle and Cathedral (learning about local history)
- The Forbidden Corner – mystery, creativity and design and getting wet!
