Art and Design is an optional subject at Key stage 4 and is delivered through both G.C.S.E and Btec.

Here at The Axholme Academy we place a firm emphasis upon enrichment activities such as gallery and theatre visits.

It is our view that critical and contextual studies are the basis for any art work and should be taught as the foundation stone to all schemes of work.

This is a practice we believe in strongly and always incorporate within our teaching. It is our view that such visits not only widen a students’ view of an artist or movement but change their perceptions of education and educators as a whole.

Art and Design is a truly holistic subject and as such affords fantastic opportunities for cross curricular learning.
