Careers Service

Ruth Henderson from the career service will be in school on Wednesdays and will be based in the Careers office to give advice and guidance to any pupils who require help with future choices.

Students who wish to have an interview should complete the sheet issued to form tutors at the start of term to register interest and then Ruth will make an appointment to see them.

It is possible for names to be added to the list at any time through the year and pupils should see Mr Bartley to ensure they are added to the list.

 

North Lindsey College

Claire Lochran from North Lindsey College will be in school each Wednesday morning from 9.00 am until 12.30 pm and will be based in the outer careers office. Claire will talk to individual students about the courses offered at the college.

Students who wish to have an interview should complete the sheet issued to form tutors at the start of term to register interest and then Claire will make an appointment to see them.

It is possible for names to be added to the list at any time through the year and pupils should see Mr Bartley to ensure they are added to the list.

 

Interest Talks

Interest talks to pupils about subjects offered by the college will be available in the Autumn Term and pupils should complete the sheet issued to form tutors to register interest and then talks will be organised dependent upon interest shown.

 

John Leggott College

Jade Harrison from John Leggott College will be in school each Wednesday afternoon from 1.30pm until 3.15 pm and will be based in the outer careers office. Jade will talk to individual students about the courses offered at the college.

Students who wish to have an interview should complete the sheet issued to form tutors at the start of term to register interest and then Jade will make an appointment to see them.

Information Evenings

Information evening and open days are held at both colleges and the dates will be posted when available. Students should check the notice boards for posters of the events.

 

Consortium for Learning

CfL (Consortium for Learning) is an independent umbrella organization representing Work Based Learning (WBL) Providers, dedicated to raising the profile, standards and quality of WBL in the Humber sub region.

They will be coming in to school and giving a presentation to students about opportunities within the area for apprenticeships explaining about the application process involved and the qualification requirements.

Web based careers information

 “www.passportfolio.com” is an Internet based resource that is available to all students with access to the web both from home and in school. They can log on by typing “www.passportfolio.com” and update their information as changes take place. They will have the opportunity to start using the site from Y9 and then be able to revisit in both Y10 and Y11. Parents are encouraged to look at the information with their children to help them make the best choice.

The National Careers Service - to find the right job for you. . www.direct.gov.uk/NationalCareersService is also a very worthwhile site and can give valuable information on jobs available their location and qualification requirements.

This year students will be applying for college and apprentice training will be using the e prospectus and applying on line through the website this is a new service that has been provided this year by the local council enabling all providers of further education and training within North & Northeast Lincolnshire to show what is offered and give students the opportunity to search for the most suitable placement for them. This will be accessible from any computer with Internet connection and will provide an opportunity for parents and pupils to look at courses available, suitability and the qualifications required.
