School Challenge - Computing
North Lindsey College hosted a Computing School Challenge on Monday 23rd March inviting all Schools from the Northern Lincolnshire Education Consortium.
Jemma East, Liam Thorley and William Beevor (Year 10 BTEC ICT students) took part in the event which involved planning a 3D design, then creating this design using a Raspberry Pi and Python. Students worked in groups and were each allocated a mentor from North Lindsey College - Students from the College.
During the morning session we learnt how to use Minecraft and Python and then in the afternoon we entered a competition to design and create a Castle.
It was a close call between two students, one student from The Axholme Academy and one student from St Bedes. But in the end with Will Beevors excellent programming skills and ideas, he won the challenge - WELL DONE! the prize was a Raspberry Pi 2, which will help us to incorporate Programming into Key Stage 3 and also with the new Computer Science GCSE next year!
Well done to Will, Jemma and Liam for participating in the event and also for representing The Axholme Academy in such a positive manner.
It was a fantastic day. Thank you Zoe Slater from North Lindsey College for organising the event.
