PTFA donate Kindles to the English Department

The Axholme Academy P.T.F.A presented 30 brand new Kindle readers to the school this week. The P.T.F.A have been fund raising to supply the English department with the electronic readers and approached the Isle of Axholme Lions to help with the cost.

The Axholme Academy P.T.F.A presented 30 brand new Kindle readers to the school this week. The P.T.F.A have been fund raising to supply the English department with the electronic readers and approached the Isle of Axholme Lions to help with the cost. The Isle of Axholme Lions were pleased to help such a local cause involving children and sent a generous donation, which made the purchase possible. The 30 Kindles will supply a whole class and will be used throughout the academy for all year groups to encourage reading and improve literacy. The Isle of Axholme Lions were represented at the presentation by James Mackinlay (Lion's President) and Terry Condliff. Also present was the Principal, Joe Sellars , Literacy Coordinator, Mrs Emma Brameld, P.T.F.A Chairwoman Mrs Yvonne Arrand and Head Boy Henry Chafer and Head Girl Charlotte Ellwood.

 

Joe Sellars said ‘we are so grateful to our brilliant PTFA for raising funds for the Kindles. We are investing a lot in promoting reading with all our students by purchasing lots of books and the Kindles will be a further great encouragement to improve literacy’
