Year 8 English visit to watch Guards! Guards!

Many students enjoy reading plays in their own time or in English lessons. Many students also enjoy taking part in drama activities in their lessons. With this in mind, when we received an invitation for our year 8 students to attend a dress rehearsal of 'Guards Guards!' at The Plowright Theatre, we jumped at the chance.

Parents/carers were invited to accompany their children at a bargain ticket price of only £3.

For many, this was their first visit to a theatre performance, let alone a dress rehearsal.

The play was action packed, including drunks, dragons, magicians and even a miming orangutan! Being a dress rehearsal, there were a few mistakes, which seemed to be marked by the actors coughing. On hearing a cough, a lady in the audience (dressed as a witch) with the entire script and a torch, would call out the lines for the actor to repeat.

The students and parents/carers all indicated they'd had an enjoyable evening. The organiser of the drama production emailed us at school to compliment our students on their impeccable manners during the performance.

So hopefully they will invite us again one day.
