Sports Day 2016

On Thursday 30th June 2016 the annual Axholme Academy Sports Day took place at the home of Doncaster Athletics Club. 170 students were transported to Doncaster where they were going to represent their form in a mixture of track and field events. Luckily the weather was reasonable on the day and nobody got wet!

It really was a fantastic day of sporting action with some excellent performances throughout. Some of the Academy Sports Day Records were broken and this included the year 9 Discus record where Tom Brown threw a whopping 25.25metres. Other records to fall were all at the High Jump competition where Grace Hall in year 7 jumped an incredible 1.37metres to set a new school record. I get the feeling that will stand for some time. Izzy Nicholl-Marshall in year 8 also cleared 1.37metres and this was enough to topple the year girls High Jump record. Jacob Clarkson jumped 1.40metres and is now the year 9 boys High Jump record holder too.

The overall winners on the day were 7NO, 8ED, 9LK and 10JS. Well done to all the winning forms and enjoy putting your trophy up somewhere in your form room! A great effort by all students that took part and it is credit to you all that every single event was participated in by every single form. Well done!
