  • Sports Presentation Evening

    Published 20/07/17

On Thursday 13th July 200 students and parents packed into the main hall for our annual Sports Presentation Evening. This was the first time the event has been a sell out and we could have sold even more tickets!

Special guest for the evening was professional jockey George Chaloner who at 25 years old has over 1500 senior rides, including a Royal Ascot winner in 2014 that George referred to as like winning a gold medal at the Olympics. Unfortunately George had a terrible fall at Newcastle in February, travelling at 46mph on fibre sand. The result of this was a broken back and George is now full of metal, unsure whether he will ride again. After watching some footage of George winning at Royal Ascot, Mr Beesley interviewed him on stage and he was able to share some experiences and give advice to our students who are budding athletes.

  • Sports Day

    Published 20/07/17

Sports Day 2017 again took place at Doncaster Athletics Stadium and we were grateful for the first class facilities on offer there this year, particularly as the weather was quite wet. The official athletics track, throwing and jumping areas meant that all events could go ahead safely as planned.

The students put in some great performances throughout the day and got stuck into every event despite the damp conditions. It was again great to see so many different students taking part, working as a team and encouraging each other throughout the day.

  • Axholme North Leisure Centre

    Published 30/06/17

Andrew Percy MP and Councillors Briggs and Reid called at the academy on 30th June to see progress in construction of the Axholme North Leisure Centre. They were able to stand on the newly constructed tennis and netball courts and watch work going on for the fitness and dance/exercise studio and the swimming pool. After a great deal of groundwork being carried out it was exciting to see foundations in place and exactly where the swimming pool is being built. It shouldn't be long until the floodlit, artificial grass pitch is built.
